Action Shots - Cross Country

I spent most every fall weekend last year photographing high school cross-country meets. Missing it this year.

History in Kodachrome - Charles Cushman

I heard a great piece on NPR this morning about the collection of 14,500 Kodachrome slides taken by Charles W. Cushman starting in 1938, now housed at Indiana University. He was an "early adopter" of color film technology, and this treasure trove contains some of the earliest color shots of that era.

As a "witness to his times" he traveled constantly, criss-crossing the country on driving trips, shooting everywhere. A lifetime of photographic work in 14,500 slides? A lot of photographers in these digital times take that many every year. But are we taking better pictures?

You can see and hear the piece on the NPR site: //www.npr.org/news/specials/2012/cushman/.

Providence Waterfront

Providence is my photography hometown. I love going back and walking the waterfront, College Hill, Swan Point or the North Burial Ground. There is always something interesting to photograph.
