Watkins Mill Bridge - Georgia

Watkins Mill State Park lies about 20 miles east of Athens near Comer. The Watkins Mill Bridge was built in 1885, and, with a span of 229 feet, is the longest covered bridge in Georgia.

Georgia once had over 200 covered bridges - today there are less than 20. This bridge is also notable because it was designed and constructed by Washington (W.W.) King, son of freed slave and famous covered-bridge builder Horace King.
